MYOTHERAPY/REMEDIAL MASSAGE

Myotherapy is a trusted and effective form of physical therapy that addresses a variety of musculoskeletal, neurological, and physiological conditions.

It can play a key role in recovery from issues such as frozen shoulder, bursitis, tennis elbow, muscle strains and tears, joint sprains, headaches, migraines, arthritis, bulging discs, and more!

Myotherapy is also a great way to enhance gym performance and improve overall posture.

Treatments may include (but are not limited to):

  • Soft tissue release
  • Deep tissue massage
  • Cupping (static, dynamic, functional)
  • Dry Needling*
  • Joint mobilisations
  • Stretching/muscle lengthening

* Dry needling is targeted at muscles and is not related to acupuncture

What is the difference between Myotherapy and Remedial Massage?

Myotherapists undergo an additional year of study compared to Remedial Massage Therapists, which gives them a deeper understanding of the body, nervous system, and exercise prescription. While the hands-on treatment is often quite similar, Myotherapists are typically trained in Dry Needling and Cupping, which are not usually covered in a standard Remedial Massage course. Remedial Massage Therapists would need to take extra courses to offer these techniques.
